(N.B.: The play can be performed with a minimum of seven
actors, 3 male, 4 female. The number on the right of the
characters indicates who is doubling them from the first block of
characters with numbers on the left from one to seven. However
this doubling is purely indicative)
SET
An empty space. If necessary cardboard boxes of all sizes are
moved by the cast or mechanically to suggest locations as
required. Other small props are brought on and off by the
cast. (This is for an economical setting. Obviously if there are
financial and technical resources available other approaches
are possible. The beginning of scenes have characters
coming on and ending of scenes have characters going off.
This is purely to help staging the play in a school/community
area where there are no use of lighting facilities. If these
facilities are available then scenes can simply start and end
with fading up or fading down lights)
TIME AND PLACE
Streets, roads, squares, favela and drop in centre for
streetkids in a large city in Brazil.
(Note: the play takes place on the background of the current massacre of streetchildren specifically in Brazil. However the mistreatment and persecution of streetchildren are of global proportions (Colombia, Guatemala, Philippines, Mexico,India, Bangla Desh, Irak, Turkey, USA, some African countries, etc.)
